Contemporary Baskets

inspired by natural forms such as pebbles and boulders

These baskets are inspired by natural forms such as pebbles and boulders and man-made forms especially large scale ceramic vases. I have also been in awe of the work of Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth since I studied at Bretton Hall and had access to The Yorkshire Sculpture Park . When weaving these baskets I feel as though I am building sculptural forms. I become lost in repetition of the weave and enjoy the fluidity of the willow. Usually each basket informs the next one.

If you would like to commission a contemporary basket contact Sue to discuss your order.

WOVEN FROM THE FIELD

My  exhibition with Rosalind Stoddart at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum  runs until 15th November. Large scale sculpture and Textiles are on show celebrating the connection we both have with the land where we grow our materials.

Carry Ackroyd's exhibition 'Found in the Fields' runs alongside ours, it celebrates the life of John Clare and Carry's work beautifully illustrates his poetry.
