Large green asymmetric basket with hazel handle

I have been experimenting with the asymmetric pattern of this baskets border throughout lockdown. This scale of these baskets became really interesting to me and i experimented with adding more side stakes to give the diagonal line of the border a longer smoother edge. The colours of the willows added in this pattern also give a painterly effect which i love. I have used Green Dicks willows, packing twine and Brittany Blue willows on this piece all grown organically by Kirk here in King’s Cliffe. The thin hazel rod , or sun-shoot, is from a local hazel coppice woodland managed by Carolyn Church and Hugh Ross.
